The idea behind Modra

The idea behind this blog was conjured up many years ago. At first, I just knew I wanted to set up a blog, after which I started mentally drawing its pages, making up headings, topics, subtopics, etc. The versions changed one after another and they always seemed to me either too pompous, or too simple; other times they seemed to me pretentious and affected. Until one day I simply decided to do it, and only time would tell what it would look like. And here was the first difficult task – what name to give it? The name is incredibly important. It must be memorable, maybe it must say something about the person, maybe something about his or her hobby, maybe about his or her interests, maybe … there are too many maybes. Modra. Why Modra? In the Tran dialect, “modar” is an adjective in the masculine which means blue-eyed, and “modra” is the feminine form. In Slovak this word has the same meaning – blue. Blue as my grandmother`s eyes – this grandmother of mine whose name I carry and whose eyes I have, and who was born in the Tran region. She had the most wonderful blue eyes which a person is able to imagine. When you looked into them, it was as if you saw infinity and you wanted to fly. … That’s why at birth they named her Modra. Hence, it is the blog of the blue home of my blue imagination, the blue home of my blue wishes, the blue home of my blue dreams, the blue home of the blue indigo garden, the blue home of everything which captivates me.

  2. И моите баба и дядо бяха от Трънския край. И моята баба имаше най-сините очи 🙂
Е…..може би само по това не приличам на нея, но със сигурност душата ми е Трънска 🙂
